BERGAMOT / Citrus bergamia (bergapetne free)

This is the best quality of Bergamot you will find. Bergamot BF (bergapetne free) comes from select Italian trees. The oil is cold pressed from the peel of the nearly ripened fruit. A small tree with smooth oval leaves and small round fruit. Bergomot is grown exclusively for the essential oil within its peel. The entire plant emits a strong fragrance similar to citrus, but most like that of the tropical tree, orange bergamot, hence the nickname bergamot. The scent is suitable for use in potpourris and other scented mixtures. The blossoms provide the flavoring for the famous Earl Grey tea. The flowers are also edible.

Properties - Analgesic, anathematic, antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic, carminative, digestive, diuretic, deodorant, febrifuge, laxative, parasiticide, rubefacientm stimulant, stomachic, tonic, vermifuge, vulnerary.

Uses - This oil has many uses some of which are acne, boils, coldsores, insect bites and insect repellent, oily complexion, soar throat, mouth infections, loss of appitite, flatulence, colds, fever, flu, anxiety, depression and stress related conditions.An infusion is good for colds, coughs, nausea, and sore throats. Poultice used for headaches. Historically, physicians used leaf tea to expel worms and gas.

Blends with - Clary Sage, Frankincense, Geranium Egyptian, Lavender, Lemon, Neroli, Orange, and Petitgrain.

Cautions - Bergamot BF (bergapetne free) has been rectified, removing the bergaptene which is photo sensitizing.-dilute before use
